Hi Forum, 🙃

I'd like to replace an old Quadro P620 for a GeForce 4070 super on a Windows 10 system.

Is it important to deinstall the Quadro drivers before upgrading, e.g.:
  1. Backup system
  2. Deinstall Quadro Drivers
  3. Reboot
  4. Shut down
  5. Replace physical graphic cards P620 -> 4070
  6. Boot up and install GeForce Drivers
Or is this unnecessary and I can just switch cards and install new drivers afterwards?

Thanks for any help!!!!

PS/Background: A collegue of mine made me some 'panic': 🤪
If I do something wrong, it might work at first, but result in lots of problems later?!... 🙀

That is the steps I would use. Why? Well, after the Quadro drivers are de-installed, You have verified the unit still works with the default Windows drivers.
When you swap cards, you will be using the default Windows drivers. You know it worked before.

Necessity?? I don't know.
I might take a user system checkpoint of your running system before doing anything.

Windows is built to be able to run several different graphics drivers so removing quadro drivers is probably not necessary.
Drivers take up minor amounts of space.

The 4070 will run in a very basic mode without any nvidia drivers so a simple swap should be ok.

It's not about amount of data left on disk nut system settings that overlap capabilities of particular GPUs, registry etc.
