Hi there,

My Radeon HD 6950 (about 5 and a half years old) is dying a slow death and I'm looking to replace it but I don't want to build a new PC just yet. Can someone recommend a good graphics card that will be compatible with my motherboard (Asus M4A87TD, also 5.5 years old -https://www.asus.com/Motherboards/M4A87TDUSB3/) and that is as good or better than the Radeon 6950 for a decent price?

Probably around £100 so 150ish in dollars.

Could get that for around £150, ideally I'd like to not spend more than £100 but the R9 380 has got me interested..

At about 150 quid, the r9 380 is by far the best deal. But everything depends in the psu. Minimum recommended for a 6950 is 500w, a r9 380 is 550w. While more expensive at about 180 quid, the gtx960 might be a better option than replacing both the gpu and psu. If your psu is smaller than about 650w and is also 5 yrs old or better, replacement might be a consideration if wanting to go with the amd catd.
