Question Replacing soldered processeror

I took my laptop to the repair shop and was notified that my processor needs to be replaced. The processor is soldered onto the Motherboard and the Technician says he has experienced replacing such processors, my question is what is the performance like after doing such a thing? will performance be the same as it was before? can I upgrade my processor also by any chance?

If done properly there should be not performance difference if replacing with the same CPU. If done improperly the motherboard and cpu are scrap. An upgrade maybe possible depending on the laptop model and what cpu you currently have.
