Most GPU and chipset heatsinks will also accept a standard 40mm fan, which usually performs better do to it's increased thickness, and usually blocks PCI slot 1. Some fans require slight trimming along two edges to fit.

What's the frequency, Kenneth?

I mounted a pentium heatsink on my Geforce2 card because the screw holes of a 40mm fan did not seem to line up. Plus, I thought the larger heatsink would provide better cooling.

While that is a good idea, a lot of people don't want to remove their stock heatsinks. I have quite a few 40mm fans with thin round frames, and the flat part in the center, which fit fine on most sinks. Fans with square mounting flanges can be made to fit closer by removing the flanged part on two sides.
