Replacing storage on HP laptop

My sister is thinking of buying a laptop. Unfortunately, it ticks all the boxes except for the fact that it comes with a 128GB SSD pre-installed. Me, being a veteran of a build of my own, offered to buy said SSD and she would then buy a HDD, which i would later install in her laptop. Now, while looking online for a replacement i realised something: If you replace a storage device, do you have to repurchase windows? Or is it ingrained in the rest of the system, seeing as it's a retail product?

If W10, no problem, only criteria is motherboard. You could also just clone her disk to new one and avoid all problems.
