Replacing the fan in an Antec BP500U PSU

I recently built a second PC out of all my spare parts so I'd have something to use when I come home from uni at weekends. It's insanely loud compared to what I'm used to though, with all 80mm fans (case is pretty old, so no way of fitting larger fans). However, I've noticed the loudest part of the computer is the PSU, I've had a look around and it seems pretty simple to replace the fan in the PSU, however, I read that I'd need to replace it with a fan of equal voltage.

Does anyone know what voltage fan I should be looking for to replace the one in my PSU (Antec BP500U). Anything else I should know before I do this?

Post all the model numbers and info off the fan that is in there or google it to find info.

Don't know about the voltage but you want a fan with the same or more airflow, just quieter. :D

I haven't actually opened it yet, was hoping somebody else had. No luck on google :(

Opening it is easy enough, you need the information off the centre of the fan, like this.

I've just thought I've got a box of these in my loft, let me take a look and if you PM me your details and cover the postage I'll send you one, shouldn't be more than £2, thats if you are UK.

Thats why its loud though, don't know if the Deltas will be any quieter with all the airflow but I'm quite happy to send you one if you want to try it.

I'd probably cut the wires that're on the current fan and the new fan and attach them mid way. I don't really wanna be soldering to the board itself if I can help it
I'd definitely be willing to give it a go if you have some spare, thanks!

Just googled it and the delta one looks to be a good 8 dBa less than the current one so a pretty big help. Thanks!
I'll PM you now :)

I have the same psu and it was indeed noise as hell. I opened the psu and cut the fan cable. Then i replaced the fan with a Be Quiet Silent Wings 80mm PWM and connected the PWM into CHAS1. Now, the psu is super quiet, altough my warranty broke. Never again i will buy this cheap *** again
