Hi everyone.
sorry in advance for my english.
i've had a working Samsung story station 3 external drive for the past 3 years or so.
recently it became impossible to work with, due to the large amount of bad sectors resulting I/O errors and etc.
(i managed to rescue allmost 100% of my data).

I still have the external case and all the components of the story station working fine.
can i assemble another sata3 3.5" HDD instead(7200 RPM) ?
would it work at all??
or maybe it has to be 5400 rpm?

thanks

you answered your question yourself.. get a cheap 2tb 3.5' HDD ..pop it in and screw it back
with ext enclosers it depends on the io board and firmware that was used. some of the older ones will have a set size limit on them. you should be able to do a one for one drive replacement. myself I would buy a new encloser that sata one there cheap and use a standard sata drive.

i'm not sure 2.5" would fit there

im sure t will.. 90% of the hard drives use laptop disks in them.... open the case to verify as you are going to open it anywas.. see it for yourself
