Replacing the noisy Corsair H100i fans?

Hi.

Im planning on building a system with an i7-4930k which i intend to overclock.

My choice for the cpu cooler is the Corsair H100i and i want to replace the fans through
quieter ones. For this, I've been looking into this model:
http://www.blacknoise.com/de/products/it/8/Noiseblocker-NB_eLoop_Series_120mm

As you can see, there are different models which provide different intensity of cooling at also a different noise level. Which one should i choose to ensure both safety for overclocking and a low noise level?

if your going for quiet over performance, I recently picked up 2 corsair SP120 quest edition fans. They are quiet do a very reasonable job and when you look at them you can tell they are quality. I just got the 1450rpm ones and they are very quiet you could probably set up one more level in the edition and get pretty silent performance

The noiseblockers should perform decently. They'll definitely be quieter.

For the love of god, don't buy Corsiar SP120 Performance Editions. The stock fans are essentially the same thing - just run them at a lower RPM.

Thank you :). With overclocking in mind - which model would be the best choice?

The initial link i posted has the Fan round-up twelve, which include the B12-4. In Fan Round-up 11, they have the stock corsair fan. You can listen to both of them.

The numbers are similar, but the Noiseblocker is about 5 db lower (so a noticeable difference) and has lower RPMs. From my subjective viewpoint, it has more of a lower hum, than a high-pitched whine.

So from all the available eloop-versions, i should take the B12-4 as it has the highest cooling-performance?
I read in a thread somewhere that some people are having trouble getting them (B12-4) to run properly, however the B12-P is supposed to run fine and is capable of having its rpm controlled.

Since I'm still hoping for an answer to which exact noiseblocker eloop model to pick, I'll rephrase the question like this:

Will my Corsair H100i be properly prepared for overclocking, if i replace the 2 radiator fans with the noiseblocker B12-P which has (according to the earlier posted specsheet) 2000 rpm, 132,4 m3 cooling performance?

First of all - thank you for your support & the link. I ordered the "P"-model now. Just because it has a "Box-default"of 2000 rpm doesn't mean it won't be able to perform with higher rpm when neccessary, or?

A little off-topic. But do you have any cooling paste that you could recommend to me? Not sure if it matters, but it's for the 4930k (and h100i obviously). Many people appear not to be using the cooling paste that it comes with.

The pre-applied thermal compound that comes with the H100i is pretty good stuff, if I recall correctly.

If you want some more, for future use (or if you're afraid you might mess up the installation the first time around) here is a selection:

Prolimatech is probably the best, but there will be no more than a 2C difference in the range of them all. (A bigger difference will probably be had in each time you install your cooling solution.)

I, personally, use Arctic Cooling MX-4. Yeah, it costs a little more, but you're also getting a 4g tube, which will last forever and a day.

Thank a Lot! I guess i'll bei using the pre-applied paste then and get an MX-4 for future uses.

I have the Noiseblocker eloop-P running on my corsair H100i and i am SHOCKED. They're miserable they create a really massive dark humming sound on ANY rpm. Sounds like a vaccuum cleaner. Definately returning these first thing in the morning. Can you recommend me better ones?

Out of curiosity, how much different do they sound than in the fan round-up? Have you tried turning the fans around, or listening to what they sound like when you take them off the radiator? (Also, how much difference in performance was there, or did you not try?)

Some other fans worth looking at:
Scythe Gentle Typhoons AP-15
Noctua NF-F12
Be Quiet! Silent Wings 2

Performance is good. mid-/low-pitched noise is always existent at all speeds. But if you turn it below 1000 rpm it becomes unacceptable because then the airflow-/turbulence-sound doesnt soften it anymore. Then it's just an in-your-face "nuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuh" Haha.

I ordered the Noctua NF-P12 today. I have great hopes in that austrian brand.

At first I thought the Noctua were really ugly but idk within the past week they've grown on me, am I just being weird liking them now? lol.

Noctua fans are regarded as the best, wish they would come out with their black colored ones, heard they were only releasing those in the industrial market...some are bound to pop up on ebay or something though 😛

Very true. That beige-/wine-colored style of theirs looks weird. I think its the beige in particular because it reminds me of formerly grey eletric devices that turned yellowish over time. ^^

I just wanted to give a quick heads up to anyone who's been following this discussion with interest:
I have tried out multiple fan models and arrangements with the h100i.

The Noiseblocker eloop-p were a big disappointment because their flawed design causes a REALLY annoying noisy sound when in any pull-configuration.

I have found the Noctua NF-F12's to be the perfect fans for pulling the heat out of the h100i's radiator.
In addition i have 2 Noctua NF-P12's blowing air inside the case through the sidedoor-mesh. Noise and cooling is very good.
