Question Replacing Verizon Router

I just had Fios Gigabit installed and the Verizon G1100 router is working OK. I am trying to swap in a Nighthawk G8000 Netgear router, but the internet is not connecting. The setup is straightforward: ethernet from ONT to routers. Phone and Internet only, no TV.
Am I failing to do something?

I can't find a webpage for a Netgear G8000. But, changing routers often requires a call to the ISP. The ISP has "memorized" the MAC address from the previous router. You have to call support to get them to forget the previous router so that your new router will get a DHCP address.

Without the Verizon supplied router, your FIOS phones may not work.

my mistake, also. It's an R8000, not C8000.
