replacing WD5000bevt with WD5000LPVX

Is it possible to replace a WD5000BEVT drive to a WD5000LPVX in a 9 year old Packerd Bell laptop?
Running Windows 7

I am concerned because the BEVT drive is Sata 300 and the LPVX is sata 600.

It shouldn't be a problem new versions of SATA are backwards compatible.
