OK, come on. Enough with the Apple hate. We know they're the devil of the computer industry, but what about the people who have no interest to learn or care how their computer works? (Idiots) Yea, that's who gets a Mac. They make good products.. 2560x1600 + Retina??! That is beautiful. If you deny it, you must drop your fanboism.

This is so get thumbed down..^

Hope it has a quad core like the bigger ones, Intel has an Ivy Bridge quad in the same TDP as the chip in the 13" pro.

One thing though, they still have not worked out all the UI framerate issues on the current retina macbook pro, things like the resize animation and the calender flip you can literally count the frames on. The 13" presumably wouldn't even have a discreet card to fall back on so you'd be stuck with that lag, which the small drop in resolution from the 15" likely wouldn't fix.

Guy beside me in class has the 15" retina MBP. That machine is freaking gorgeous.

In the words of PC Gamer: "The retina macbook pro makes me angry, because it makes me hate ever other laptop on the market"

Yeah, I was pretty happy with 1920x1080 on my 15" laptop until I used an rMBP for an extended period. But still, once you lean back to healthy levels you can't see pixels on mine either.

In the words of Damon and Marlon Wayans, " Mo Resolution, Mo Resolution"

I have no problems with MBP except... I cannot afford them. Other than that... keep bringing the pressure on the competition please!

One day we might have $500 2xHD resolution notebooks from Toshiba, Asus, HP, Dell, Acer, etc.

^From a fapple who doesn't get PC gaming...
Gamers don't even pay attention to Macs for several reasons:
1) Its a mac (apple)
2) GPU (GT 650M) is underpowered (surprised?) to run most, if any, modern games at that resolution
3) For that price, you could get an i7 coupled with a gtx 680M
I have a friend with a 27" iMac (1440p) with an i7 2600 and a 6970M. He plays D3 on it. When he played on my i7/gtx680 (b4 sli'ing that bad boy) setup, he was shocked at how smoothly the game played. You don't buy apple products to play games. You use them for their productivity software or as a status symbol.

Apple really needs to start making monitors with this resolutions... Good for the for putting preasure on the 1080p standard I hate so much.

2,880-by-1,800 on a 15 inch screen puts my 1920x1200p 24 inch monitor to shame...

[citation][nom]kcorp2003[/nom]and intel ultrabook is barely getting 1080p. This makes me feel uncomfortable because i'll be buying an ultrabook soon.[/citation]

Technically, any new Mac out there right now will fit Intel's criteria of an ultrabook 😛

Apple has the worst screen resolutions. I am an ipad3 and iphone4 user.
In a normal world. 720p 1080p are pretty standard.
Apple have to go out and create resolution like: 2880x1800, 2048x1536 (ipad3) and 1136x640 (iphone5)
First off, iphone5 is not even HD, "retina" but not HD. Kinda silly when everything HD videos have to be downscale.
My ipad3, 2048x1536 resolution...impressive when i bought it. Now that I have it. I think it's a pointless. iPad3 is NOT widescreen. Ugly black borders are always presence when i watch videos. Now that apple iOS6 abandoned YouTube. Google youtube app does not support High Def. HD youtube videos look horrible. I also find that ipad3 processor is too weak to play 1080p files. Beside MP4 format, ipad could not handle 1080p MKV format. I have a lot of movies with SRT subtitles. I bought an app player (proplayer) but movies looks like a slideshow. iPad3 processor barely handle 720p mkv files.

Valve steam has proven that with the same spec. Windows get more FPS than OSX.
Why do you think game latest titles come out on window. Because windows pc machines have the hardware to run it.
The macbook pro might have a beautiful display, but...I think 2,880x1,800 is pointless since OSX:
1. No native bluray support.
2. With this kind of resolution, you will need two highend desktop gpu running crossfire or sli to run any new game titles.
3. The GT650M is a joke in term of gaming gpu

@kcorp2003. Intel ultrabook is barely getting 1080p? I guess you never heard of the Asus Zenbook Prime? the 13.3inch ultrabook with 1080p resolution. It's been out for a while now.

The new 13inch macbook has 2560x1600 resolution. Again, Why?
I guess mac people can watch tons of 1080p movie trailers

Wait, it's equipped with a 650M? Pff, good luck gaming at that res. MY 680 probably would struggle with 2560 x 1600.. only real upgrade here seems to be resolution and retina, but of course that is "revolutionary" and is leading in "innovation" lol.. riiight. Why can't Apple just fail like AMD did? Too soon :)

Drop dah ball Apple, do it.

650M on the 15" rMBP
13" rMBP only gets the igp, which begs the question: why not make a 13" rMBAir? Your already selling your left kidney... 😛

I applaud that Apple has Retina display on 13" MacBook Pro, but if they are going to make it unrepairable as the 17", then i am out.

[citation][nom]seels[/nom]I already have my credit card out to scoop up 3 of these bad boys![/citation]
You're not even the legal age to own a credit card! Do your parents know you took theirs?

Finally. Currently the 13" Macbook Air and Macbook Pro are nearly identical except one gets a DVD Drive (which most people don't use).

The 13" Pro needs something to set it apart.

As much as I HATE crApple products, I would buy this laptop if it wasn't so over priced. However, day 1 would look like this:
$2199 MacBook Pro with retina display
$130 Windows 7 x64 Pro3
$2329 well spent
