Ugh, i think this line is just going to be an update to the great 5xxx series... It doesnt look like much as its also a 40nm die process with better TDP output. I think eyefinity, ed games, dx11 and the rrst are still growing and the radeon 5xxx series can still handle everything current(not to mention the 5850).

If you were smart, just get one if you have an older GPU but if you already have a 5xxx cypress or even juniper chip just Crossfire it. Its going to be the last ATi card youre going to get anyway if youre big into nostalgia. They are going to all be AMD cards from now on....

ATI cards have been "ATI" in name for many years, it became AMD when they were bought out. Branding them as ATI made sense, don't want to confuse the already easily confused masses. With AMD doing well in both fronts (CPU & GPU)it became a good time to jettison the ATI brand name. Business as usual.

Think of how much it'll be easier to review ATI/AMD cards without saying "ATI/AMD"... ;)

from the looks of it GTX480(Fermi) will still be the top dog in the single GPU department. i guess that nvidia has a winner after all, lol

AMD's PR department is so damn smart now. Say nothing when you have the lead and everyone will keep talking about your upcomming product. To funny. This chart is BS but AMD has people talking again without saying a word. Now that is cheap advertising.

I think I will wait for AMD's official announcement before I trust specifications for the 6000 series. We have seen about 10 "official" charts that have all been highly suspect.

The new "6800" series is the new "6700" series. (odd I know.) The new 6900 series is the replacement for the old 5800 series. Why they changed it I will never know, the 4000 series had the best naming wit the 4870 4870X2 etc.

Either way the new 6000 series looks to pack a major punch even for the midrange.

Also what the chart does not show is the ROP's. I believe all the new cards have an increase which is where the largest performance gain will be had. Thats why the new 6870 will be faster than the 5850 with less shaders and not just with a faster clock.

I think these are more legit than that crappy chart. AMD would have to be STUPID to change the scheme and make Barts the 6800 series, unless it BEATS the current 5800 series. If the Barts Pro doesn't beat the 5850 and Barts XT doesn't beat the 5870, then it would be absolutely idiotic to call them the 6850/70. They'll be the 6750/70. People would be in an uproar if the 6870 was slower than the 5870.
What this makes me think is either that chart is full of crap and it'll be the 6700 series, or their performance is so much better than expected that they beat the current 5800 series across the board and ARE going to name them the 6800s.

what lead...nVidia has the lead now with Fermi, especially the GTX 480, in some games and benchmarks it even beats the 5870.

Great news that AMD is adding to thier linup so soon, but its kinda old news already.

And I have to question why Tom's keeps posting these unconfirmed spec. sheets when until the official announcement they are all absolutly meaningless, even if this site has "guessed" right once or twice anyone can speculate as good as another.

[citation][nom]Lrrr[/nom]Anyone got a link to the new naming scheme news story? Never heard of this before or are people just pulling it out of their asses? AFAIK those charts are fake no company would do a name scheme change without announcing it before hand it just doesn't make much sense to do it under wraps.[/citation]
I guess no one saw my post in the previous thread... oh well. In any case these specs are nothing new, they've been circling for a while now, and there are indications that they are in fact legitimate. Rumors suggest that the Barts series will debut as the HD6870 and 6850.
