Why not? This helps them to compete more directly against the 560Ti, which must be Nvidia's top selling enthusiast GPU. This could also help them to move stock before the 7000 hard-launch. Sure, there wasn't much of a gap between the 6870 and 6950, but filling that gap and pricing it accordingly only gives users more options.

if the 7970 is that much money that means it must beat the crap out of the 580. Wonder how much heat and TDP it will have.

And um why are they making a 6930 it looks like its going to be 5% faster then a 6870 probably using more power and heat to do so also. They should of made the 6930 a 28nm part and pulled a Ati 4770 on nvidia.

[citation][nom]dark_lord69[/nom]And what was the mistake of the 5830? It seemed like a good card to me!It runs as fast as the 4890 did.I've got a 4870 and that is about equal to a 5770 and 6770 which I think is plenty of power for most games so I won't be upgrading any time soon. I think it will be capable of playing Diablo 3 so I'm not too concerned.[/citation]

im pretty confident that my 9600gt will max out diablo3. from the gameplay videos it doesent look very demanding on graphics.. my 9600gt can run starcraft2 at maximum details with a good framerate 50+fps, blizzard is pretty easy on hardware requirements.

The best value in this card will be to cross fire it with a 6950. One of the things not reported on by basically any website, is that the micro stuttering effect on all dual card crossfire / sli setups is much less pronounced on AMD cards where the primary card has a larger frame buffer and higher performance than the slave card.

There is benefit to purchasing two of the same card for crossfire, but there is a much better price/performance ratio with much smoother playback if you purchase a one bin lower secondary card for ATI setups. The only criteria for hybrid crossfire, is both cards have to be of the same prefix bin, 6970+6930 is no problem, while 6930+6870 is not possible.

I see this card being under high demand.
