And Apple will claim innovation and somehow all tablet devices, even those which existed prior to the release of the Apple Tablet, are copycats and ripping off Apple's innovations.

Fanbois rejoice.

""It's going to be fabulous for watching movies," said one entertainment executive to the FT."

I have a convertible tablet laptop. When the screen is folded overtop of the keyboard, it absolutely sucks for watching movies. You have to hold it upright in front of you the whole time. Laptops have a base for a reason.

I am wondering why are there people who want to watch movie on small to tiny monitor on the move. Why? I don't see any point of doing so. Just get a cheapo HP entertainment laptop with 15.4 or larger monitor.

Watching movie on the move is a joke. However, if they can stream weather channel to the tablet, that might be a nice thing to have. Information, not entertainment, are the reason to have motion pictures on small monitors.

I DON'T F$@%ING CARE! i didn't care the last time, or the time before that... or the 6 times before that! apple tells us what we want, not the other way round, so there is no point in knowing until its released anyway!!

I agree with Chaohsiangchen: why the heck would you want to watch a movie on a 10" screen when your living room tv has a bigger screen size? plus most people may already have a laptop with 15" screen size or a desktop with a 17" flatscreen to watch the movie. I guess it's the folks who like to watch full length movies on their phone -- they will consider it "awesome" to graduate to a 10" screen. LOL. By the way, these keyboardless tablets ARE going to come with a stand right? If not you're telling me I have to hold the tablet in my hands during the whole movie? or rest it on my lap and burn my balls? or wait, try to rest it atop the table against the cup of frappachino?

Convertible tablet so far is the best design out there when it comes to tablets. This will be a first of apple following a trend than setting one. Well, then again they took the Palm and Blackberry and produced the Iphone. I'm curious what they'll come up with.

imho, about 90% of tablets out there already suck in terms of performance to cheaper laptops and its almost better to buy a regular laptop and place a wacom tablet on the side.

cough cough.... the bit about the movies... Watching movies on an Ipod nano is great to me where i can catch my favorite film while riding passenger in a car or bus or train or plane. Then upgraded to Ipod touch and this made the screen even bigger and better for movies since most "portable" dvd players have a dismal 2 hour battery life, the ipod touch works great playing movies. ( buy the dvds with the digital copy disc)

Never did anything bigger like a 15" for portable dvd viewing but I have laid in bed with my 17" laptop and an episode of LOST which i found to be great. I can see where holding a 15" tablet maybe a problem in that regard, but I assume tablets would be used like tablets normally should, like a tablet for taking notes and working like a tablet.

Perhaps if mac would convert their MacbookAir into a tablet... That might be useful. But still, I wish they could come out with a gaming laptop and have the extra feature of being a tablet.

I'm going to voice what no one else has so far: It's competition for Microsoft's Surface. I fully believe Apple could embed cameras and RFID chips under that glass and turn this into a product no one can live without.

Business as usual!

Lets hope this doesn't kill the guys who run the Modbook business.

Unfortunately, I am disappointed by how they are talking about the tablet. Watching movies? Using as an eBook reader? Ummm... I thought the whole heart of the tablet was its ability to ink - but almost every time a review comes out, no one review or discusses a tablet for actual handwriting. That is more of an "oh yeah, and you can scribble on it - but who would want to do that?" paragraph.

So, tell me how great it is for taking chemistry, biology, and math notes. Tell me how it will replace a drawing pad and brushes and paint, charcoals, and inks. Tell me how doctors will be able to write out notes and then stick it in my personal file on the USB stick I carry. Tell me how its touch features will make a keyboardless interface smooth and fluid to use.

In other words, if I am looking for movie playing then I probably don't need a tablet - and thus I won't be looking at one.
