lol at the rebranding that being said getting 670 performance for $60 less that what they are going for that would be nice. The real question is will this refresh bring down the cost of the 6 series ?

Wonder if we'll see a 790 that is based on two GK110 like the 690. Could just imagine the cost of something like that ($1500+ which would be insane).

Nah the 790 will never be $1500. It will be $1000 just like a 690, 590, 490, etc. The 780 will be between 499-599 like the article says. Seems pretty good since the 4GB 680 is priced around $550-600.

who needs 5GB of VRAM? The most i've seen is the HD Skyrim pack at 1.5, not even coming close to 5GB. This is intentional bottlenecking at it's finest because they know the guys buying these cards have no idea what they really need and will cream when they see that this card has over twice as much as most any of the last gen cards.

Well I've seen some benches with Skyrim + mod eatting up between 1.7-1.9 or ram (it was awhile to lazy to search) but that being yeah why 5Gig if they dropped down to some where between 2.5-3.5 (what makes 320-bit math) which in turn I would hope would bring the price down $50 would be nice. Heck the titan should have been release with 3Gigs and then they could have had the ultra with 6 gigs of memory.

The community stated it would be crazy to buy more than 1 Gb of VRam for GTA IV. Look what that ended up requiring. Also its considered to be "future proofing" to get more than needed. There are those that will pay the extra since they're using multimonitors. Bill Gates wondered why everyone would need more than 10 Mb of storage space for their emails inbox.

this remind me of 8800gts/512-9800gtx-gts250 ... If is a based on a cut-down GK110 , it would be nice to unlock it, but as i see the future, nvidia and ati will never allow this anymore.hd6950 really boosted the sales because of this.....Anyway , i will stick to my 7970 ( reference not ghz ed) until things will cool down with some really new gpu to show off from both sides, if is going to take to long il just throw in a second one since the price are getting lower on reference 7970.

Maybe becuase skyrim is hardcoded to use only 1.5GB of VRAM max? Ever think of that? Also for those that use 3D vision surround.

This is great news, some of us game at higher than 1080p for those of you asking who needs 5gb of video memory. 2560 x 1600 max settings thats who. Time to update my 2 x 3GB 580s. With 2 x 5GB 780s !!! Then onto a i7 Haswell this Summer.

makes me sad. I was eager to upgrade my 580, but I really don't see a reason to. Guess I'll have to wait another year for the 800 series. If AMD would provide some competition against the titan nvidia would have had to actually try.

I think this 5GB and 6GB is just too much for vRAM. The sweet spot should be 4GB vRAM for high end cards and 3GB vRAM for mid table cards and the rest. And I hope that the price is right. I'd def scoop up the GTX 780 if it goes on sale for $499.

Your priorities are not the same as others, just because you see no use for 5GB doesn't mean I don't.

Who cares anyway, more VRAM the better I say! I am planning to switch to above 1080p soon and will be happy with more VRAM for AA and future games.

I dislike when people say this because in a year or so we will see high res. displays become more mainstream. This is better for all of us who run multiple displays just because you see you no point doesn't mean you have to b!tch about it. I for one who runs 3 displays love the extra ram.
