Report: Nvidia GeForce GTX 760 Supposed Specs Revealed

Nvidia has woken up and getting really aggressive with the dropping of prices with their 600 series, as well as bring in the new 700 products. AMD needs to start dropping prices and release the new cards shortly, Q4 is too long of a wait. Hoping for the best, everyone loves competition (especially our wallets).
 


And theres a sapphire 7970 atm on newegg for 320$, 300$ after rebate, which is arguably the best value at the current moment.
 


Which is better performance wise?
 


the 7970 has more overclock potential and vram as well as larger memory bus. the 670 will likely offer a more stress free environment. The 7970 ghz(an overclocked 7970) is similar to the current gtx 770(OC 680 with better vram) performance wise.
 
It seems like the 670 would still be more powerful than the 760. I guess this leaves room for a 760 ti to come out later this year and fill that performance gap.

Yeah, right rebranded cards with slightly tuned clock frequency are new cards totally.
 


Go for Nvidia .. PhysX is worth it.

I have an HD 7950 and I don't have any problems with stuttering at all. It's only in multi-GPU setups that AMD cards start having that problem.
 


nvidia got locked out of the consoles,
physx barely gets used as it is.
unreal 4 engine has physics in it already
if nvidia wants to have physx as a brand, and sell rights, they are going to need to open it up, or be regulated to nvidia only. and with a version of physx going to the consoles for amd hardware, i find it hard to believe there won't be a cracked pc version.

point being, physx is under used and should not be used as a selling point on a gpu.
 

aside from physx, nvidia cards have lightboost for crt like gaming on some monitors, and theyll have that new game recorder that automatically records the previous 20 seconds of all games.

all that being said, i just ordered the hd 7970 off of newegg with 5 games =]
 
With a name like 760, you'd think this thing would be a direct sucessor to the 660, but it apparently isn't, as the 660 launched at $230 and this is launching at $300, the same price the 660ti launched at. I just don't see why they have to make naming so convoluted, and AMD is guilty of this as well. Were I making these cards, my goal for the 760 would be to equal or exceed the performance of the 660ti, for the same price the 660 launched at. My goal for the 760ti would be to equal or exceed the performance of the 670 for the price the 660ti launched at.

With these specifications the card is replacing the GTX 660 Ti and not the GTX 670.

Of course it is. Otherwise what would the upcoming GTX 760Ti be replacing? I can't believe people seriously ever thought the GTX 760 would be the equivalent of a GTX 670. That would make no sense based on nVidia's rebadging of the GTX 600 series so far.
 
The point is, low end graphics are dying from the continued improvement from AMD and Intel, while high end stuff always comes out. So the same spec stuff is going to drop down in the series number code.

However, it could be nice if NVIDIA could set their products with just numbers, and add "GS, GT, GTX" to the improved versions, so we won't have to deal with Ti or Boost or "GTX 650 Ti Boost" Also, the improved GTX 660 could be something like the GTX 665. Seriously, Nvidia, you have one extra digit to play with. If you keep on refreshing the series like this, you are going to suffer at the near future when you need to replace the 900 series.

Nvidia said it will allow PS4 to use PhysX ..

so it is not out of the game :)

as for cracked ? well I dont want to "Crack" :) I want "Official" .

people who look at FPS , miss the point that once you get the 60 FPS at what ever resolution you are playing with and details , anything above 60 fps is not necessary , so they should start looking for more visual effect.

An overclocked GTX 660 Ti with 192 less CUDA cores and 16 less TMUs but a 64-bit larger memory bus and 8 more ROPs,...

Since the current batch of overclocked GTX 660 Tis already are equivalent to a stock 7950, where exactly is the performance boost in this card at $300 (considering that overclocked 660 Tis are running $260-270 currently). I fail to see a "price drop" in this card.
 


Right, just like the 8970m, all 7000 ghz editions etc. I see your point, they both do it. But then Titan & GTX 780 are NEW cards Correct? Whatever dude. But at least NV runs faster, quieter and uses less watts producing less heat :) Oh, they come with physx & cuda too. There is a reason they own 65% of the discrete market even without giving away 8 games...LOL. Did I mention DRIVERS?

You don't title your article that if they suck right? They didn't give it the SMART BUY for nothing. Did I mention price drops? Every new-old card they've rebranded beats the one it is replacing for less money than last year, so who cares? Angry over a rebadge when they gave you a price cut and MORE perf? What are you smoking?
 


I'll wait for an actual review before judging clocks prices etc. This is pure rumor at this point. I've already seen multiple RUMORS of this card's specs. It's almost getting old. They shouldn't post rumors when the card is out in 2 days.
