I'm playing as lawful good with Minsc, Aerie, Jaheira, Yoshimo and Nalia.
We've got a rep of +20, Jaheira and Yoshi are bellyaching about it - should
we act the bad guys for a bit to pull us back, or not bother? I would rather
stay heroic (being lawful good and all)

I just started BG2, but I know from BG1 that Jaheira complained about my
group too, since I was good and she was neutral. Well, I guess me being
good didn't matter, but once my reputation was 19, she complained.
Nothing resulted from it, though, and I doubt anything has changed with
BG2.

At any rate, I wouldn't work toward lowering your reputation just to
make her happy.

Neutral aligned characters like Jaheira and Yoshimo won't leave
the party no matter how high your rep. (And as been commented often
here, J in most other respects behave like a good aligned character.)

But if you find their scripted grumblings annoying, then lowering
your rep to 18 should stop it. (See NPC Reaction Toward Reputation
Table, pg. 240 of BG2 manual.)
