Hello,
I finally installed the latest windows 10 build 1709 (from usb iso file) everything went smooth and worked great, I did a "recover" with my Seagate drive, and reinstalled all my needed items, everything worked great until yesterday when I went to use Open Office and open a .odt file in my docs folder, I kept getting that need elevation requirement, ALL my files I cannot open, seems windows created a new user profile and last time i messed with profiles I locked myself out of all kinds of stuff, I need to know how to merge, change, delete or whatever, this other profile and give all the rights to my current profile? without locking myself out of everything? (I tired system profiles, highlighting the profile but as soon as I do that, everything is grayed out so I cant click "copy to") tried with one or two docs giving ownership to my current profile, restarted, checked that I have ownership and I did, Still cant open the file I get the same message!! I'm stuck!! any help will be greatly appreciated!!
Thanks
Bill

ps: I've noticed even when I create a NEW doc in open office and save it to my desktop, I go back and try to open the file that I created and get the same message!!  also If I RIGHT click the file and click NEW instead of open, its opens in Open Office but not every file does only a few!

Oh ok I used my Segate drive earlier for a backup of all my files on my computer, when I was done with the new install of windows 10, I used the Segate program to re install all my personal files, thats when I ran into problems
I installed the new version of Open Office and it wouldn't open anything in any of my folders,,,,
I have since then uninstalled OpenOffice and installed the older version # 4.1.3 and for some reason it works?
I also changed...
When you installed Windows 10 a new system user was created.
You need to take ownership of all folders that were previously created, since they belong to the previous Windows installation user.
I don't understand what do you mean by "I did a "recover" with my Seagate drive..."

I also changed my computer name back to what it was earlier I dont know if that had anything to do with it or not but everything seems to be working just fine now,,,, all my files open im not installing the newer version of OpenOffice, I dont know if that what it was or not but version # 4.1.3 is working the way its supposed to so !! knock on wood!!!
Thanks for your suggestion as I did monkey with the profiles for a while I just wasn't real sure on exactly what I was doing but I guess I did something right lol Thanks again!!

Glad that your system is back to normal.
To avoid issues in the future, use the same user name and password so you don't encounter issues with your files.
