I just finished my new build , specs below. Asus P9x79pro
Intel I7-3930k
(2) WD caviar 1TB
16 GB Vengeance RAM
Zotac GeForce GTX 580
Asus Sata 24x DRW

I am using the Windows Disk for install

I Raid 0 (striped) both of my HDDs together, and everything worked fine. Once I started installing Windows 7 ultimate I got this error. "Required CD/DVD drive device driver is missing." Any idea how to fix this?

Thank you! will give this a read and a shot! any help is appreciated this is starting to drive me nuts 🙁

The problem is that you need a RAID compatible driver for use with your CD/DVD drive. There is more than one way to solve this problem but the easiest is to just connect your DVD drive to a SATA connector that you can configure in IDE mode for use during the install. You should be able to set the mode of your SATA III (6Gbs) ports to RAID mode and then set your SATA II (3Gbs) ports to IDE mode. Make sure that your CD/DVD Drive is connected to one of the SATA II ports. Then you should have no problem getting through the Install. Keep in mind that you will still have to install the RAID Drivers from the Motherboard CD during the install. Otherwise the system may not let you install your OS to the RAID 0 Set.
