Required specs for audio production?

So a friend of mine wants me to build him a pc for audio production but i have no idea what is important for working with audio. Could anyone let me know?

Best thing you can do is find out what DAW (digital audio workstation) he wants to use, browse their forums and look at the product system requirements.

Some DAW's can run on very minimal specs but once you start using lots of VST's it can get more demanding. Also, if it's live audio he wants to capture, he will need an audio interface.

Decent amount of cores and RAM, some external outputs for all the VSTs, and a studio-grade headphone.
