I have recently started designing a gaming PC at PC Part Picker. Here are the specs I have decided to purchase:
- Intel Core i5-3570K 3.4GHz Quad-Core Processor ($215.98)
- Asus GeForce GTX 770 2GB Video Card ($309.99)
- ASRock Z77 Extreme4 ATX LGA1155 Motherboard ($133.98)
- Western Digital Caviar Blue 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive ($57.98)
- Crucial 8GB (1 x 8GB) DDR3-1600 Memory ($59.99)
- Cougar Solution (Black) ATX Mid Tower Case ($39.99)
- Cooler Master Hyper TX3 54.8 CFM Sleeve Bearing CPU Cooler ($17.99)
- Thermaltake SMART 550W 80+ Bronze Certified ATX Power Supply ($39.99)
- Asus DRW-24B1ST/BLK/B/AS DVD/CD Writer ($19.98)
- Microsoft Windows 8.1 (OEM) (64-bit) ($89.98)
- Encore ENM232-8VIA 24-bit 96 KHz Sound Card ($12.48)
- Encore ENLWI-N3 802.11b/g/n PCI Wi-Fi Adapter ($10.99)

Total: $999.35

Can anyone tell my if these are decent gaming PC requirements (for games such as Battlefield 4, DayZ mod and Elder Scrolls Online) and please provide any cheaper alternatives to the parts listed above. Also do I have an adequate cooling system and if I were to overclock, would I require a better one?

Higher quality for similar price.

We can save more if you have to go below 1k, by taking away the overclocking potential.

Thanks man. There's just one problem. The Cooler Master Hyper 212 doesn't fit inside the antec one case. It's 4mm too small.

4670k is intels newest 4th gen core i5 haswell. performance vs the i5 3570k 3erd gen ivy bridge cpu is negligible.

The real differnce is the z87 chipser. Its a hell of a lot better the z77. better PCI Scaling, Networking Interface and ready for this.... Hackintosh native support!

For OC, I would reccomend atleast a Kraken x60 or TT 3.0 Extream with IC Diamond or AS5. IC Diamond is preferred but hard to find. With the stock intel cooler and IC Diamond 7 my 4670k can do 4ghz playing bf4 at around 84C. The cpu is fine until 100C and will shut down at 103-105C

The case you mentioned would good, not much room for cable managment, few expansion slots and not many fan mounts. The sound card is not needed. you can carry your DVD drive over from your old pc if you really need it. DONT EVER BUY CRUCIAL RAM. Period.
