I reset my bios and now i cannot boot into windows,
i get error 0xc000000e my motherboard is a Gigabyte z170-sli.

I tried auto repair with a usb image of windows, but that did not resolve the problem.

if its relevant i was installing linux on another ssd between the last time i booted windows (and then reset my bios) and now.

Solution
check in bios and see what boot method it has set - you want uefi but it might have switched to legacy when you installed linux
(Guessing it would be on the boot tab in bios)
look in bios and see what is first in boot order, if its not the C drive then make it so, and restart PC to see if that fixes it
otherwise, if it is already, make it USB and boot from the installer
boot from installer
on screen after languages, choose repair this pc, not install.
choose troubleshoot
choose advanced
choose start up repair - this will scan PC and maybe fix this - will ask for logon info

another option is try to see if safe mode works
boot from installer
on screen after languages, choose repair this pc, not install.
choose troubleshoot

is this win 10 or win 7?

If Win 7, see if any of this helps: http://superuser.com/questions/469793/the-boot-selection-failed-because-a-required-device-is-inaccessible-0xc000000e

If win 10, do you have a win 10 installer? On another PC, download the Windows 10 media creation tool and use it to make a win 10 installer on USB

Two ways to fix this
1. open command prompt and type chkdsk /f and press enter. Might take a while.
to get to here you need to change boot order in BIOS so USB is first, hdd second
boot from installer, on 2nd screen after languages, choose repair this pc, not install
choose troubleshoot
choose advanced
choose command prompt and type chkdsk /f and press enter
http://www.toppctech.com/inaccessible-boot-device-error-fixed/

2. The more common way to fix it is fresh install
If there anything on hdd you want to save? Try this: http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/windows-vista/use-ubuntu-live-cd-to-backup-files-from-your-dead-windows-computer/
Once you copy everything off you want to keep, follow this: http://www.tenforums.com/tutorials/1950-windows-10-clean-install.html

clean install may want to wipe hdd so make sure to copy everything off you want to keep

its windows 10, I tried to run chkdsk /f but it said drive is write protected, i think it might have not worked because it is trying to do a chkdsk on the usb not my ssd

That or you have a UEFI bios and it won't run.

Did you check in bios and make sure Win 10 boot disk was 1st since you installed linux on PC (I didn't notice that till now) - I wonder if it changed the boot order

I dislike inaccessible disk error, i am not sure why it happens seemingly so easily. I could guess but thats just me guessing.

could d/c all drives from bios, start PC, let it find nothing, restart PC and attach the win 10 drive only and see if it boots - that would reset the boot order.

You might need to fresh install win 10 but since you have linux on another drive, you can use it to copy all the files you don't want to lose off the windows drive.

The drive with linux on is unplugged.

I do have a UEFI bios.

I unlpugged all drives then started, then restarted with just win 10 drive. now I do not even get the boot manager error from before, I instead get the message "Reboot and Select proper Boot device or Insert Boot Media in selected Boot Device and press a key."

hit the restart button
choose a safe mode (it doesn't matter which) by using number associated with it.
PC will restart and load safe mode
