Resetting A Drive That Has Been Burnt

Hi i have forgotten the administrator password to my computer and i want to reset it using a password recovery drive but the only drive i have around me is a 2 terrabyte drive that i do not want to become unusable. If i Burn the password recovery software into it, is there away i can undo that once i am finished with it? Can my drive be used again after i have finished using it for password recovery? Im using a Toshiba 2 terrabyte external drive and a windows HP EliteBook.
