Resetting bios password

I recently bought a custom built computer but when i tried to access bios it required a password i asked the guy i bought it from about it he did not know it i found out later that i can reset bios by removing the CMOS battery and putting it back in but since its located under the GPU is removing them both and putting them back in going to effect anything ?
