I downloaded Resident Evil 5 through steam. And every time i start the game it shows black screen and after 5 seconds stops working. I tried reinstalling Games for Windows few times. Changing the drive on which it was downloaded. And downloading it again. None of them worked. My PC Specs are:
Processor Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Quad CPU Q6600 @ 2.40GHz
Video Card NVIDIA GeForce 9500 GT
Memory 3.1 GB
Operating System Microsoft Windows 8 Professional Edition (build 9200), 64-bit

Try this when screen goes black press ctrl+alt+delete and there should be an option to turn on the task manager...do that and you SHLOULD get a random message*probobly from your antivirus or something*
just remove it and should work....worked for me...but i also have an andvanced antivirus..not sure if that happenes with AVG or something...

The game starts with a black screen and then stops working and crashes

what directx do you have if you have 11 installed download dx9 then reboot your pc and try the game or try running it in winxp mode

Something weird is happening to the game and my computer. I have a two monitor set up. And i made my second monitor primary which seemed to fix the problem but when I switched back to my other monitor it started crashing again.

Then problem is with your pc so you can play it on secondary and it works fine

It's simple ,i had this problem too, but i solved it after trying this
Right click on Launcher.exe >>Properties>> Compatibility>> Checklist "Run this program..." select Windows Vista and then Apply>>OK. Done.

Now Run as Administrator then select Play on DirectX9
