SMAA VS FXAA+TAA ON 1080p
Hi guys,

I have the idea that SMAA gives a clearer image, but really doesn't take care of the aliasing that well. FXAA + TAA removes all aliasing (close to) but gives a blurry image like you need to rub your eye. Is there any way to activate SMAA but without these terrible moving lines?

1st picture is SMAA - the circles are the places of lightning effects which will go up and down when I move.
2nd picture is FXAA + TAA - doesn't have these lightning things (which shouldn't be there like in the 1st pic imo)

The gif shows it better than the images.

Thank you!

Well i play at 4k on...

Hi,

That would be like rendering it at 1.8x right? Let me check if that makes a difference :) Would I still need SMAA on then?

The higher the rendering resolution the less aliasing you will need i use 4k display and i do not use any form of it as edges are invisible. You will have to decide for yourself if it looks good enough for you to play.

Sadly when I put it to 4k rendering I still have aliasing. It's playable, it's just annoying 😀 how is 4k doing it for you? considering to swap to 4k, but I'm currently on 1080p 144hz and 60hz just seems really stuttery to me.

Well i play at 4k on a 65Inch oled TV in HDR :) and i don not really see any edges even if i walk up close to it as pixels are really small.
