after my old monitor died i used a 55 samsung tv as a monitor and worked completely fine now i got a tv for myself as a monitor and its our old tv a sony klv46v400a(before that samsung smart tv this tv was in our living room)
when i connect my pc to it using hdmi i cant get more resolution using hdmi (i tested every port) while when i connect my old xbox 360 to it using hdmi i get 1080p
im currently using a vga to hdmi adapter to connect my pc to the tv its the only port i can get 1080p out of
when i turn on pc with vga it also gives 1360x768 but can change it to 1080p
i checked all tv settings and idk whats wrong
my graphics card is gtx 1050 asus expendition
i tested hdmi cable with pc and samsung 55inch model and i can get upto 4k 30hz with that cable
i also checked for firmware updates but found nothing
is there anything im missing?

1920 x 1080, 67.5 kHz/60 Hz (Full HD model only)*
* The 1080p timing, when applied to the HDMI input, will be treated as a video timing and not a PC timing. This will affect the System Settings and Display settings. To view PC content:
- Set Scene Select to Graphics
-
Set Screen Format/Wide Mode to Full
- Set
Display Area to Full Pixel. (Display Area is configurable only when Auto Display Area is set to Off.)

video timings are defined in EDID under CEA, PC timings are defined under VESA

to switch between CEA reoslutions and VESA resolutions, u can use geforce control panel, click on change resolution
under HD, SD u will see video resolutions, under PC u will see PC resolutions
for example mine TV is 4k, under CEA it can go 4K, under vesa its limited to 2560x1440

so i fixed it and its normal kind of but colors are all messed up what should i do
also its now showing 1824x1026 is it normal?

PC doesnt use same timings as xbox
it is also documented in your TV manuals
video timings :1080p (under CTA-861)
PC timings : 768p (under VESA)
CTA timings are used for media players
VESA timings are used for PC monitors
Since you have HDTV, then u should use HDTV resolutions (CTA-861)
HDTV resolutions u can switch in nvidia control panel (in case windows doesnt shows them)
