Resolution Lock on Games

I have owned this PC since February and I've managed to put up with this problem until now when it's really annoying me.

I am using my Computer at a resolution of 1080i at 60Hz and this works and looks perfectly fine. However, when I load up ANY game, I am forced to use only one resolution within the game's options.

"1176 x 664"

Now I would usually be fine with this but now its ridiculous as There is a large black frame around my screen containing the game in its respective resolution.

This happens with every game and I am Wondering how I can change my config on my PC of some sort to contain

1. An Option for More resolutions

2. An Option for 1920 x 1080



Any suggestions, please...

If you are using 1080i ("i" for interlaced) then you aren't running your desktop at 1080p. Before tackling games, you need to determine if you can run your desktop at 1080p ...

My apologies for not being clear. I own an old Toshiba TV.

That TV may only support 720p (or 1080i). You would need to specify the exact model for us to determine that. But I am guessing that you won't get your desired 1080p with that old TV.

That is why I asked about the TV part you would need to list (or I guess you can search on model) the TV it probably only supports 720p some TV don't even support 720 and that is why you have that "non standard" resolution.

Okay, thank you. Does anyone know why my games will ONLY run at that res? I don't have ANY other option at all besides that one (1176 x 664) when usually I could put it at 800 x 600 for example. That's the real issue. Is my GPU faulty?

I actually believe its a problem with your TV it may only support 1176x664 resolution, TV's aren't really made to support multiple resolutions like computer monitors. The first thing I would do is get a proper monitor.
