the other day i bought a new monitor for my computer and instead of buying a new one i used the old one as a secondary monitor and when i turned it on the resolution on the monitor was stretched beyond the boundary's of the monitor making it annoying to do anything on it help

Monitor : ELETT221 Element 22" LED 1080p
Connection: HDMI
Graphics card: ASUS R7 370

did i word it too weird to be able to understand it?

No, I was just amused how your opening sentence sounds contradictory.

The problem you've got is that the two monitors probably don't have the same size screen, so they need different display resolutions.
