Resolution problem

I currently have a custom built old computer with no hdmi output.
I am using an S - Video cable to connect it to my HDTV.
(Windows XP)

I only get two resolutions when i do this 800 x 600 and 1024 x 768

800 x 600 is way too big and 1024 x 768 is so pixled? that i can't read words on even my desktop shortcuts

My graphics card is a NVIDIA GeForce 9600 GT

Please help. I can't seem to fix it and its driving me crazy !

Svideo is very limited by its output.

try getting hold of a DVI to HDMI converter like show below
