This should be simple. I have a samsung syncmaster T260HD monitor that I really love. It was a joy to use on my old 32 bit XP PC with integrated graphics card. Its native resolution is 1920 x 1200 but on old PC was able to EASILY change resolution down a bit to 1200 x 800 so that text was more readable.

Now I have upgraded to 64 bit windows 7 with dedicated GeForceGTS 240 graphics card. Now if I try to change native resolution the entire desktop just gets smaller, with a black border around it. I have tried to change the resolution BOTH in windows settings and in the graphic card control panel, same result. I am very frustrated because now I have to constantly use the zoom feature over and over to see websites the way they normally would look on the old PC- What to do???????

It sounds like you want to change your Display settings
If your right click on the Desktop and go to Personalize
then click Display in the lower left corner
you can then change the size to a larger percentage.

you may also want to adjust the settings on your monitor to allow the picture to take up the whole screen.

is this what you wanted to do?

Thats what i was gonna suggest because to me that seems to be what hes saying i have a LG W2353V 23in and i kno that i have a option button on the monitor its self that lets me select 4:3 mode or the widescreen 16:9 which takes the black bars off the sides. not sure if this is what u meant or not though

I have a HP 2338h monitor whose native 1080 x 1920 mode shows up smaller than the screen size until I added the graphic card driver and the monitor driver from its disk.

The screen at 1080 x 1920 is still smaller than the monitor, but if I open up the screen resolution box and select a couple of size smaller resolution, the entire screen is now filled.

The resolutions were not labeled, but the little incremental linesw now allow me to select options for resolutions not available before I added the monitor's drivers.
