Resolution resize, items missing

I turned on my PC this morning, and the resolution was set to 1024x768, and when I turned it back, some items were missing on my desktop. I could select them, but not see them. This happenes everytime I start now

Graphics card in device management indicating any problems? Monitor identified? Virtual desktop activated by mistake? And what do you mean by you can select them, but not see them?

nope, GPU working, monitor is normal, but the icons that weren't shown at 800x600 don't show up, although I can right click where they should be, and get the menu with Open with, print etc.
