Resolution settings problem

Ok, so I just installed a new hard drive due to warnings my old was about to crash. I did not copy the old hard drive onto the new, I simply used my Asus recovery discs to install a new, fresh installation onto the new drive. Everything went smooth, even finally managed to get the updates to install (think my old drive the OS was getting severely corrupted).

However I am at a loss here on getting things back to how I want them. Like I want to run my monitor on 1900 x 1200 like I previously did. However, when I do that it's pushing everything well off the edges of the screen. Yes, I made sure my video drivers are up to date, even tried installing an older driver to no avail. Right now I'm at 1776 x 1000 and everything looks just a bit "off".

Yes, my video card supports the resolution and much more. It's an AMD Radeon XFX 7870 graphics card with 4 gig of ram on it. So I'm stumped here. It's been a long time since I set up a new drive as my other one lasted 6 years here. Any thoughts or help would be appreciated.

Also I use a 40 inch HD TV for my monitor and it supports the resolution as well as it was previously working just fine.

Solution
Open up Catalyst control center and check the overscan setting in the LCD options. If it's set to anything other than 100%, that's the cause of your problems.

So I had to find what you were talking about and it was set to it's maximum, all the way to the right for overscan. I adjusted the slider down towards underscan and that shrunk it down to where it should be for the 1900 x 1080. Didn't have to do that before though. But seems to have it corrected for now.
