Resolution wont go past 1368x768

Ive just hooked up my PC to a 1080p TV and I cant set my resolution past 1368x768

Ive checked online and nothing seems to work

ive got an 8800GTX in my PC

how can I increase the resolution past this?

Whats the make and model of the TV ? Are you running through the HDMI ? If not why not ?
