Question RESOLVED: MSI X470 Gaming Plus with Ryzen 5 3600 DDR4 3000 red lights!

Hi Folks,

I am unable to figure this out.. Msi's website says the new 3rd gen CPUs are supported as well as DDR4-3000 being supported.. It will not post and i get a CPU red light and the DIMM slots have red lights that are in use. I tried one stick of ram rather than 2, confirmed they were in the red slots, being A2 and B2.. Any assistance is appreciated. The RAM is Vengence LPX. Any help is appreciated!

per AMD's site, i am actually seeing system memory of 3200 mhz... could that mean 3000 will simply not work?

That mobo will need the most recent BIOS in order to run a Ryzen 3000 CPU.
Was this an upgrade? (Do you have a 2000 series CPU you can put back in to do the BIOS update? )

This is a brand new build from a AM3+ system. I don't have any other processors

Guess i'll run to Staples and get a 2nd gen and then figure out how to upgrade the bios. i havent done it before.

you can usually ask the store you bought the mobo from to update your bios and usually they'll accept
if not, check if your mobo has any ways to update the bios with no cpu

The MB manufacturer often has fairly detailed instructions how to flash the BIOS...

If you'd post your mainboard used, folks will be happy to find/post a link to them...

from what I see, no, it does not enable no cpu bios updating but Im pretty sure you can go to the store and have them update it
also, use slots 1a and 1b

Thanks for the feedback folks. I just went and got a 2nd Gen Ryzen 7 from Best Buy and will be returning it once i get these 2 pcs built. I already got it to POST with this new processor. Downloading the BIOS from MSI right now

Hi All, this case is closed. Picked up a 2nd gen AM4 processor, plugged that in and got it to POST so i could upgrade the bios. Once I did that i threw in my 3rd gen and all is good. Thanks!!

MSI X470 Gaming Plus with ryzen 3600x (mobo doesn't seem to have the flash bios button). Is there a way to update or fix this issue without purchasing a 2nd Generation Ryz3n to update?
