I want to buy a new computer monitor. Currently I have an HP w2207 with 1680x1050 resolution and 5ms response time, and I want to upgrade to a bigger one and 1080p capable. I was interested in getting a 24" 16:9 display or maybe a 27" one.
I have been doing my research on google, in these forums, newegg, etc ... and the consensus is that IPS panels are the way to go. I also read that the lower the response time then the less ghosting you will see which is important when playing 3D games in general.
In newegg I found this monitor but Im not sure if its worth it:

Since I have a 22" 16:10 display, I will be gaining around 2 inches horizontally, 1080p, and an IPS panel. Will also lose around 3ms of response time since the dell monitor has 8 ms response time.

I can afford to buy a 24" IPS monitor, and then a regular TN display up to 27" with low response time. Which one would you recommend?

what type of ips panel?

e-ips and tn are both 6bit. only the other types of ips panels can display more colors. what you do gain with any ips though is a much wider viewing angle.

only tn panels come in 120hz which allows for 60hz 3d gaming. ips panels are only 60hz which would support only 30hz gaming or 60hz gaming at half resolution in 3d.
