Restore deleted file; connects to web

accidently deleted file that connects xp to internet. Is there any way I can retrieve this file.

Is there another file that would connect my computer to the internet. I just got this computer refurbished and

I didn't bother to establish a restore point. I am on a 2 computer network.

I am not good at DOS or anything too complicated. Thanks in advance.

What did you delete ? - Look in recycle bin and restore, if it is there.
Windows takes a restore point on startup. Look for one.

Files don't connect you to the internet, it's a combination of things, you are maybe talking about the drivers for the network card?

When I removed the file I could no longer get the internet. I never heard the name of the file before which is why I deleted it. I thought it might be something harmful. Guess I was wrong. If it is drivers can I replace them?

Yes, just download the driver from the vendor's support site. There will be thousands of files you have not heard of, and many of them will do bad things to your PC if you delete them.

If you want to check for viruses, run malwarebytes, it's a pretty good program.
