My previous post in this thread was moved to Storage. Windows 10 error I got was re file system (ex-FAT vs NFTS). I have got around that, but now another error:.
"Windows has encountered an invalid MediaID.bin file in the backup folder."
Web shows this is common. Maybe it was related to FAT vs NFTS, or not, but Windows allowed and a backup was created.

Contents of backup folder are visible but mostly 81 zips. From one unzipped sample reconstruct is possible, but I'm wary of unknowns, duplication, lots of Russian doll folders with nothing but sub-folders. 14GB compressed. Now seek advice on either alternative, including:

Is there a name for what W10 uses when creating backup and can this lead anywhere?
Can any 3rd party backup help restore a faulty W10 backup it did not create?
Is there any way to fix or get around the faulty .bin file?

PS to Mod: This may still be borderline OS/Storage, but would like to try here.
