Restoring files under my profile

I couldn't find this answered already, but it may be because I'm not sure exactly how to look this up in the database, so here's the question.

My SSD completely up and died on me with no warning. I had to replace it and start with a fresh install of Windows 7 as I cannot get any device to even recognize the old SSD so cloning will not work. Having said that, I did have Windows set up to back up my files onto a storage drive, so all is not lost. I went to the control panel to restore my files. The problem is that in setting up Windows for the first time on the new drive, it created a new user profile. I can find the restored files, but not the profiles that they were stored under.

Is it simply a matter of creating the profiles again and then the files will appear under them, or should I create the profiles and then perform a file restore? What is the best way to get my computer back to as close as it was before the crash using the file restore? I've never had to do this before and the googled tutorials really focus more on specific software or are more geared toward "I erased my profile, how do I get it all back" types of questions.

Solution
Make a user account with the same name as before, and try the restore. Creating a new profile won't make your files show up, you will just have a blank profile with an empty My Documents, etc...

The restore should also ask you where you want the files to be restored to.
