restoring my laptop to factory settings HELP

Hi my laptop is asus n55s with windows 7 installed, I chose advanced recovery settings and I was wondering what the re-install windows do?

it says I need windows installation disk, what is this?

If its the windows 7 installation disk I dont have one, I only have the serial number of it stuck at the bottom of my laptop

You should have made an image of your system as soon as you booted up your laptop for the first time. Now, you will have to obtain a copy of Windows 7 on a disc and re-install it. There really is no other way. Finding a legal copy of Windows 7 will be a challenge but I have seen some threads on here that have links to sites where you should be able to DL one. Just make sure it is the same exact version (as in Windows 7 Pro or Home, etc. and 32-bit or 64-bit). The key should work as long as it is the right version.
