Hello,

Today I attempted to restore my computer to the factory default. My hp computer used the recovery manager to attempt to restore it but during the process it failed. After the computer restarted I am now met with a bootmgr is missing press ctrl + alt + delete to restart. Further attempts of restoring windows is met with it failing and my recovery disks are being rejected by the computer( not sure if a motherboard/hard drive change would cause this)

Are there any options for me here? Thanks

If you mean you changed both the hard drive and motherboard yeah it could cause that to happen. Hp is pretty specific about the rig being in original condition, remove any hardware before running restore. Don't think the hard drive would cause your issue. Probably it's motherboard if you changed it. Your options are put it back the way it was when it came out of the box and try again....or get yourself an oem version of windows and start from scratch.

The first solution is not possible since it was hp who changed those parts after I first purchased the computer and was having issues with it.

Can you clarify on what an oem version of windows is and how I would go about getting one?

Thank you.

Purchased version of windows. You could google best price windows and version you want. Have you removed any hardware that did not come with computer? Other option could be purchase restore disk from HP, probably cheaper than full version of windows. I know you already have restore disks but they don't seem to be working. Did you send computer in to have MB and hard drive changed or did they come out and do it. After motherboard change when computer was starting did you get any screen that said HP? if not they may not have flashed the bios on the motherboard.

Thanks for your help. I managed to fix this by reinstalling windows by using a windows 7 cd I borrowed from my cousin and then using the product key on my computer. It looks like I lost all the hp things in the process but it's fine as I never used them :)
