I currently have a d-link 655 router. I know about restricting internet access with remote-admin settings, but it seems that only restricts computers off the LAN. Is there a way to required a wired connection to access the router setup or is it a feature that only certain wireless routers have? I've looked through all the settings, but maybe i'm just not seeing it. Tried searching on google to no avail. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks again!

used to be you could only configure a router with a physical console connection and you needed to enable http configuration. Then they restricted to to only coming from the physical lan not even the wan. But now as you have found out they enable configuration from anyplace and you are lucky if there is a way to disable this.

What can I say they are now building a product for the dumbest users out there. These users are lucky if they can put gas in their car without help. This mean the rest of us suffer because optimum security is being compromised. Any professional in the network security field will always recommend configuration via a completely separate network.

Some have this feature and some do not hard to say. Best bet is to load dd-wrt and then you have options to do anything you wish.
