Howdy folks. I just finished my rig and successfully overclocked. Is this a decent score for 3Dmark at current settings ? Also , the temps seem a bit high to me. What do you think ?

Seems high for idle. Looks like your vcore may be a little high. Is it on auto or is this what it needs for 3.6? See if you can lower it to save a few watts.
 
What is your VID? mine is 1.225 and i use 1.237 vcore to run it at 3.6 ghz.

Os btw disable speedstep c1e and shyts like that... i see you run at 2.4 ghz idle on realtemp.
 
On your screen shot, according to CPU-Z, it says 1.320v. Is this an older screen shot? If it is 1.237v then that's good. It still has a lot of room, but you'll need better cooling.
 
Yes, your idle temps seem are off... I am at 4.0 at 1.35 volts and my idles are 25c and 35c for both cores (yes 10c difference)

This screen shot is from two days ago. I have not touched the v-vcore. I was thinking that was high. I guess my next step would be to take baby steps to see what the lowest voltage setting the system will post 3.6
or would it be better to see how high it will go at 1.32v ?

I think I know why my temps might be high. My cooler is a decent one from Thermaltake but it utilizes the F-ng push pins. When I was removing this fan from my old board one of the retaining clips broke off a peg and that peg will not completely seat on the new board. I guess a new cooler is in order. Any suggestions on that ? I really dont want to spend more than $50.00.

^ the cooler seems to be working just fine. Once you lower your vcore the temps should drop. If you want to keep the overclock at 3.6 then just keep lowering your voltages and stressing it until it starts locking up and throwing bsods

EDIT: it be that you have a processor with a bad vid and need to have the vcore up in order to keep your overclock. A new heatsink could help keep the temps down but if you can lower the vcore or lower the overclock a little then it might not even be worth it to get a new one. Sense you said you had something break then if you do get a new heatsink and don't want to deal with the broken pin or whatever it was that broke you should get a retention bracket to go along with it.
 
The temps seem pretty high for just 1.32v on a 45nm. Maybe the cooler is not seated properly. If you do want to get a aftermarket coole the arctic freezer pro 7 is around $20 or lower and works pretty well.

I have a e8400 too but i guess i got lucky since i got the new E0 stepping and i run 4ghz@stock voltage, and it still has really low temps.
 
Did you recalibrate RealTemp? Be sure it is at 100 degrees for TXMaxx. I suspect that will lower your temps by 5 degrees. 105 was the standard TXMaxx for 65nm CPUs. This would make your cores seem hotter than they really are. Alternatively, up until the last few weeks, TXMaxx was estimated to be 95 degrees. If someone is incorrectly still using that number, their cores will "appear" cooler than they really are.

My cores are about 5-6 degrees different, no matter what I do with/orient my AC FP7 (which is lapped).

FYI, I have kind of settled on 3.85 stable, for my OC. That is with 1.3625 volts, 1.33-1.35 after VDroop. My cores are at about 35 and 40 for idle, and low to upper 50s maxxed out. 1.32 v is about right for what mine needed to hit 3.6. 1.35 is the "limit" for the e8400: i.e., the point above where you are beginning to risk damage to your CPU, but below which there is virtually no risk.

I keep hearing about people hitting upper 3s with barely over 1.3 v. Not a chance for me...
