Retail Case for Dell Optiplex 9010 MT?

Solution
Sounds like the fan might be standard at least. I'm guessing they flip flop on how they put everything together so that businesses never have the right parts in stock and have to get them from Dell.

With the front panel header, I suggest ohming it out with a multimeter. That means pulling the pins from the new chassis's header and plugging them in individually. Should be fairly easy to find things like the activity lights.

I have found wiring diagrams online a few times, but I guess the question is how important is the front panel to you? The recent 9020 I scavenged a motherboard from we just flipped the computer around and used the rear I/O for everything. And as you said the USB 3.0 connector is standard, so we were able to get...
Dell motherboards are pretty notorious for having proprietary connectors. This one at least takes a standard power supply. Should be a standard Micro ATX size and standoffs though.

The ones I ran into were having to re-wire fans (Dell likes 5-pins), The power switch is some sort of latching circuit rather than the usual momentary. I just hardwired that to be on when power is applied.

On my Optiplex 9010 the single rear fan is 4-wire (yel, red, blu, blk). Suppose that is a typical PWM pattern?

The FP connector concerns me the most. It is a single multi-pin connector that appears to include the USB2.0 ports along with the other stuff, and there's no indication of what wires come from what devices.

The USB3.0 connector fortunately is retail.

Then there's the sensor and beeper that plug into their proprietary headers, but they can come with the board if I move it.

Solution

All you need is an Ohm-meter, steady hands, and an hour.

Add racing stripes!

I don't mind the look of the late model optiplex, I really like the precision towers actually. Aside from the lack of decent fan mounts it is okay as a case as well. Decently well laid out unless you want to put a full length GPU in it.

Transplanting it will come with some compromises unless you spend the time to re-wire everything. I don't have one on hand to try with, but if I did I would certainly post it somewhere. I poked around and didn't see anyone who has the pin-outs for the 9010.
