Retina Display or not

Hi everyone.

I'm thinking of buying a macbook pro for editing purpose on FCP. It's always an HD video for editing and with macbook pro versions available there are either

Retina display with 2700 x xyz display and another is 13 inch and 15 inch but both do not have 1920x1080 display.
So i want to ask is whether Editing of HD videos is possible on those 15 inch laptops or etina display is the only option?

It's like i have to arrange money for both retina display and normal macbook pro. So Help me out.
I have read the configurations, all i want to know is about Display.

Thats just the screen, the CPU and GPU and RAM matter, not the display, retina lets you watch things from the side.....

The main problem i'm facing is.
As i have to edit 1920x1080 shot videos and the max resolution 15 inch MCB Pro display will generate is 1440x900. Won't there be any problem in that case?

I looked at a RetinaBook and at first found the scaled up fonts weird and distasteful...but it has slowly grown on me. However, there are a lot of sacrifices you make with a RetinaBook...can't upgrade the RAM, can't upgraded the storage, vents on the side for dirt and dust to get in...and (perhap relevant, perhaps not) cost. I think if it were me I'd just go for the 1680x1050 display and deal with the smaller screen when I had to and use an external display when I didn't.

...its been over a month...what'd you decide?

I would go with the retina display but specify the smaller SSD and save $500.

A note of caution(?) - the MacBook Pro with retina display was found to be the least repairable/upgradable computer built by IFixit.org

I have a Macbook pro, early 2012 model, without the retina display and have no problem editing on that machine. jay_nar2012 is correct, focus on the cpu, gpu, and RAM. After the purchase I upgraded the RAM to 16GB (though Apple says it will only support 8) and a faster hard drive.

My early '11 MacBook Pro has some upgrades too. I put in a Vertex 3, 16GB of RAM, and replaced the optical drive with an OWC hard drive bracket and a 750GB WD Scorpio Black. These kinds of options are why I would avoid the Retina Display MBP
