Can I back-up such as ZoneAlarm/Norton AntiVirus, amongst others, prior to
'clean' re-install of WIN XP Pro/SP2 or is it practice to d/l these items
again afterwards?

If back-up is possible I would appreciate guidance on locating, back-up,
reinstall (where!) since, as you will gather, I'm clueless!

Thanks in advance for any response.

After a clean install of Windows you need to reinstall all your software.
Make sure you have the installation media (CDs, DVDs, diskettes) for all
your software before you start, as well as the product keys and registration
numbers. For software you originally downloaded you will also need the
original invoice for proof of ownership.

Thanks for that Ted, I am fully equipped with all program software, it's
just the AV programs that are bugging me.

As I am on dial-up I was anxious to limit d/l time where possible. So is it
not possible to back-up as asked or is it just not practical...or wise?

Regards

An installed program cannot be backed up.

Next time you download a program from the Internet, copy the download to a
CD. That way, you'll always have it handy.

Do not install more than one antivirus program.

A good idea for the future is to create a folder in My Documents
specifically for downloads and always "Save as" to this folder instead of
directly installing. Once you've got them all in there. just "Send to" your
CD the entire folder.
