This is an unofficial, unknowing, unapproved update of the Retro empire
game. and for all the rest of you know, I may not even have signed onto
the visitor account to get any information. I MAY just be making it all
up. One thing I do know for sure, I am not playing in it. I'm just
updating the rest of the world because the players in the game are, uh,
a quiet bunch.
A little background. Each country started off with 100 sector country.
Each start island, while large, is barren of all but the essential resources.
Much whining and complaining took place. beep was about to lodge a formal
complaint and even go as far as writing a letter, but Friends was on and
he got distracted.
Land_Of_Faa has held the yellow jersey for several updates now. But he
hasn't expanded from his start island yet. (Most players are averaging
20-30 additional sectors of free space. and yes, there has been whining
and complaining about that too. Parpara actually booted up his Linux
workstation to send off a nasty e-mail in formal protest but Smackdown
was on and He's a big Scotty-2-Hottie fan....)
Most of us Empire players who are Generation-C (for Chainsaw) or later
just assume that the tech leader is at or near the top of the power chart
at this stage of a game. however, the old (old, as in "hey Sean, those
bunny slippers are looking old and worn) style of power charts is being
used (complete with food). this has thrown a lot of internal Empire
calibration off and some players have even complained about it. Uruk even
went so far as to sit down with pen and paper to write a letter drafing his
dissent but Yu-Gi-Oh was on (hey, it's ALWAYS on) and he wanted to see if
this episode was not going to be a "to be continued".
There have been a few minor skirmishes over who really owns what island.
But nothing major and unexpected. the major problem with naval battles
at this stage of the game are that the old style ships are being used.
It's a bit of a set-back compared to the "modern" version. Add to that the
fact that updates are only 24 ETUs (Hey Barsoom, that stands for Empire
Time Units) and ships only gain 24 mobility and 24% eff during an update.
This has led to much wall wailing and fist pounding. U.S.Madison was so
upset at this "throw back feature" that he was going to call Geoff collect
and complain. But Queer Eye for the Straight Guy was on, and well, I won't
even go there.
The real major news (aside from the fact the Indeterminist is now starving
off his people and must be on spring break) is that Savioa has given every
indication that he has bowed out of the game. ParPara, and recently TZIA,
have siezed this opportunity and started to make significant beach heads
on the Savioan homeland. Many players complained that this wasn't fair
but it has been rumored that savioa will be back in a couple of updates.
He just missed a few days since he found out about Naked News. He has since
really brushed up on, erm, current events.
