Sounds like a great question for amazon.
When you get the return approval they will give you instructions. If they dont, then ask.

Eventually found that I take it to a drop off point and it is collected from there... ... But could not find that answer on Amazon at all. Probably not looking in the right place. Thanks

How do I| return a lithium battery to Amazon

Often, they won't.

I bought a large UPS last year. DOA. Right out of the box, would not turn on.
Start the refund/return process....."Not eligible for return".
WHAT?

In the ensuing conversation with an Amazon rep, it was specifically because of the batteries in it.
They gave me a 100% refund ($150), and let me keep the (broken) device.
