I recently bought a 970 only to just now hear about the 1070. I'm strongly considering returning it but given that I've already redeemed the code for the free promotional game, how will the refund process actually work? Will they deduct the full cost of the game from my refund or prevent me from playing it some way?

I should mention, I don't really plan on playing The Division. I just redeemed it because I thought I'd forget to otherwise.

Solution

If the vendor has any sense then they will deduct the full price of the game as buyers remorse is not something that they should be legally liable for.

I'd imagine depending on the vendor, where did you buy it from? It is always worth a try.

If the vendor has any sense then they will give you a stern talking to and make you feel foolish before offering a partial refund and making you sign an apology which they will hang in the front of their showroom as a warning to other prospective time wasters

😉

For anyone coming to this thread is still wondering: it seems it depends on who you directly bought it from. I've heard of Newegg charging the full cost of the game and in other cases just charging 99 cents. I bought it from Amazon and they don't charge anything so it looks like I've been saved this time. But don't be like me: if its a pricey purchase, be careful of the particulars - keep your packaging, keep your receipt and hold off on redeeming your codes.

I know that EVGA considers free games to be a gift (same with any poster, stickers, etc) that come with their products and you aren't expected to return them. But as you mentioned, it definitely varies by vendor.
