I was wondering if its posible to return my laptop to windows 7 after updating it to windows 8?

Sometime in the next couple of months I'll be building my first ever gaming computer for a school project and I plan on putting the copy of windows 8 that's on my laptop to my desktop and then return the laptop to windows 7.

So is this possible? The end goal is so I can update them both to windows 10.

Your Windows 8.1 can absolutely be used on a new PC.

For your current PC, look into Disk Management. See if the original factory restore partition is there. It might be.
If so....invoke that and return it to new from the store condition.

If it does not exist, and you can still read the original license key on the bottom of the laptop....you can reinstall Win 7 via an ISO here:

Install and activate via that original license key.
